1919年ジョージ・ガーシュインの出世作。アル・ジョンソン主演のミュージカル「シンドバッド」に組み入れ大ヒットしました。そして、この１作でガーシュインの流行歌の作曲家としての地位は不動のものとなります。ガーシュインの伝記的映画「アメリカ交響曲」に使われているほか、ジュディー・ガーランドの「スター誕生」などにも使われています。
